SuperMoto fans have not been seeing Italian Davide Gozzini for a while, as the laceration of his right wrist tendon obliged the 2010 Vice World Champion to stay far from the track since July.
After a solid start of the 2011 FIM SuperMoto World Championship, thanks to the 4th spot overall grasped at the Grand Prix of Italy in Busca on April 3rd, Gozzini was working hard with the Team to find a good set up and feeling with his machinery but when a rider has to face a racing season with a completely new bike it is not as easy as it seems and negative weekends, like the Bulgarian one, can happen. The Italian racer of the KTM 747 Motorsport Team faced a run of ill luck in Pleven so he classified only in 14th position.
The next appointment with the series was not even better for the Italian rider, also called “Gozzo”, as he missed the GP of Andorra after crashing in Busca on the June 19th weekend during a race of the Italian Championship and underwent a surgery at the begin of August.
Yesterday Davide faced another operation to remove the screws inserted in his wrist in order to produce compression and rigid fixation of the small bone fragments, so now he is looking forward his comeback.
“The World Championship is almost over and even if I’m planning to come back soon, well I don’t know if I’ll make it for Portugal” stated Davide the day after the surgery “yesterday I underwent the last surgery to remove some special threads that were keeping my wrist blocked and I immediately started the rehabilitation, but as you may know it will be a pretty long process.
I’ll definitely do my best to be back on track as soon as possible.
Oh, I’ve heard about VDB’s injury and I hope he will get well soon, I fought against him so many times and I’ve to admit that with him I faced the most thrilling battles ever, especially in 2007 at the SuperMoto of Nations in Franciacorta and last year in Castelletto at the round of the World Championship.
Concerning the future…I’ve already started to plan the next season so I’ll have a clear vision of it very very soon.
I want to thank my fans for the love and the support demonstrated through my website and my Facebook Official Page, they are fantastic and it’s amazing receiving all their messages and keeping in touch with them in such a period of my career!”
After all the triumphs collected in the past seasons, Davide Gozzini is staying focused and is keeping his morale up despite the tough and unfortunate campaign.
Youthstream and DBO are close to the rider and hope to see him back on track very soon.
