Ceska Lipa (Czech Republic) 14 June, 2014– The third Grand Prix of the FIM Supermoto World Championship kicked off under variable skies at the Sosnova Autodrom today after a four week break with two home riders looking to impress; Pavel Kejmar in S1 and Milan Sitniansky in SM2.
It’s the fourth visit to this circuit after previously coming here in 2004 and 2005 and again last year where Mauno Hermunen was victorious with a double moto victory in S1.

S1

In S1, World Championship leader and winner of the first two Grand Prix’s of the season Thomas Chareyre starts the weekend with a fourteen-point advantage over defending world champion Mauno Hermunen ,the flying taking his first race victory of the season at Round 2 in Romania last time out.
Adrien Chareyre, Ivan Lazzarini and Pavel Kejmar fill out the top five places, with home rider Kejmar looking to impress this weekend.

Home grown hero Pavel Kejmar gave the Czech Republic fans to cheer about as he stormed the Timed Practice session as he edged out Mauno Hermunen by more than a half second. Thomas Chareyre, Christian Ravaglia, Ivan Lazzarini and Adrien Chareyre were all placed inside the top six and would go through to the Superchrono session.

Thomas Travnicek and Petr Vorlicek filled the next two places on the grid and will look forward to racing in front of their home fans.

When it mattered Mauno Hermunen was able to record the fastest time during the Superchrono and for the second time this season will start from pole position for Sunday’s race, and even though Pavel Kejmar slipped to second position the Czech Republic fans have a home rider on the front row of the grid.

Thomas Chareyre remained third, but Ravaglia dropped from fourth to sixth as Lazzarini and Adrien Chareyre were able to climb above him.

SM2

In SM2 the rider to beat is Devon Vermeulen who arrives here with maximum points and four race wins so far this season. Fabrizio Bartolini , Toni Klem , Yuri Guardala and Asseri Kingelin will all be looking to take points off the series leader Vermeulen.
The home crowd will be cheering for Milan Sitniansky who currently lies sixth in the SM2 European Championship standings.

Charged by the atmosphere of the home crowd Milan Sitniansky will start from pole position after his time of 1:10.392 was quick enough by a margin of 0.226 with Yuri Guardala placing second. Fabrizio Bartolini and Toni Klem were next in line as championship leader Devon Vermeulen had to be content with fifth – so if he is to keep his undefeated season intact he will need to be on his best form in Sunday’s race.

The race-track has undergone some changes to the off-road part of the circuit and should be a good test for the riders in both classes on Sunday.
