TRISCINA (Italy) 11 September, 2013 – After the long summer break this week-end the FIM Supermoto World Championship restarts to celebrate the sixth Grand Prix of the season as well as the sixth Round of the European Supermoto Championship. It is the fourth year in a row that the beautiful Sicily island hosts the FIM Supermoto World Championship, the first year was in 2010 and after last season, where Palermo Boccadifalco Airfield was the big scenario, this season the SM competition come back in Castelvetrano Kartodrome.
SHR TM Mauno Hermunen had a superb season getting always 1-1, only last time in Latina obtained the third step of the podium so his goal for this Sicily GP is add one more overall win. The Finnish keeps on leading the S1 standings with 22 points difference to the second classified Thomas Chareyre.
TM Racing Factory Team Thomas Chareyre at the end of July underwent surgery to his right hand and now is fully fit, determined to do again his best performance like in Latina and add some important points to reconfirm the SM World Title.
Fast Wheels APRILIA Adrien Chareyre is currently third in the S1 standings and he is fully motivated to finish on the podium again and fight for the overall victory that he got in 2012 on this circuit.
L30 Racing HONDA Ivan Lazzarini is travelling to Triscina after having won his tenth Italian Supermoto Championship Title two week-end ago in Ottobiano and he is determined to give his best on his country soil, the Italian is only five points away from Adrien.
Closing the top five Luc1 Owatrol HONDA Sylvain Bydart who comes to Sicily very happy after having won both races in the last Round of French Supermoto Championship at Alpe d’Huez and he feels very optimistic about what he can achieve in this Sicily SMGP.
Sixth in the Championship is Only Motor HONDA Christian Ravaglia determined to fight with Bydart for the overall fifth position and to reduce his 30 points difference, his compatriot Brt SUZUKI Andrea Occhini is seventh and after having relaxed and trained this summer he is in a really good shape for this Grand Prix.
YAMAHA Team Blot Aurelien Grelier keeps on making big progress each GP, Tds HONDA Uros Nastran feels very good on this track and he will try to move up his ninth position, TM Racing Factory Team Thierry Van Den Bosch completes the top ten, was really close to gain the podium last GP in Latina so he is very positive for this week-end.
SHR TM Malachi Mitchell-Thomas is now first in the ES2 classification with 195 points but he was not able to reach the podium last Round in Latina so after a second overall victory in the British Supermoto Championship this summer he is fully motivated to finish on the rostrum and fight again for the overall victory.
Only four points behind the British is YAMAHA Extream Team Edgardo Borella who left Latina victorious, this summer he trained a lot and his goal for this week-end is to win the Round and get some important point to obtain the European Title.
Another rider who has great hopes for the Sicily Round is KTM Mtr Team Devon Vermeulen that after the mechanicals problems he had in the last Round now wants to take revenge by obtaining his maiden 1-1 to recover.
Currently fourth in the European Standings is the Finnish HONDA Kingelin Asseri only two points away the Dutch, followed immediately by Shr TM Sami Salstola who is looking forward to finish on the podium another time.
