Limatola (Benevento) 24 April, 2013 - After the long winter break, this weekend starts the 2013 FIM Supermoto World Championship season in the new venue of International Circuit of Volturno. Many expectation have been generated around this event for the new two races format, free tyres, the age for Young Trophy riders reduced at 21 years and many shows that will be celebrated during these days in the track.
The defending Champion TM Factory Team Thomas Chareyre after the FIM Supermoto of Nation in October had another surgery to his shoulder, he feels good and he will race with body and brain, he recently admitted: “After 2011 I wanted to win all SMGP, then I understood that also with a second or a third place you can win the Title, however I run to win and I want win all”.
TM SHR Mauno Hermunen, who finished second last year, spent his winter to train in California, last week-end in Viterbo for the first race of Supermoto International Series he injured his hip in free practice and he will start the season not in fine shape, however is determined to fight for the Title and defeat the unlucky of last season.
Aprilia Team Fast Wheels Adrien Chareyre who ended the 2012 season with a third place, had a great off-season preparation on his home soil despite the bad weather and did a lot of tests in Corridonia near his team, is determined to start the 2013 season fighting for the top of the podium.
Honda L30 Racing Ivan Lazzarini last year finishing fourth, this season made his own team and he is in the double vest of Team Manager and rider, a new challenge for the Italian rider who wants to prove that is able to fight for the top three position.
Honda Only Motor Christian Ravaglia is very excited to start the 2013 season with a new Team and he said that he felt very comfortable with his new bike, he had a good 2012 season and his goal is reconfirm his fifth position.
His teammate Honda Only Motor Fabrizio Bartolini is very motivated to have Christian in his team and he will aim better results than last year.
TM SHR Matthew Winstanley suffered armpump, he is happy to have two race this years instead three and he is very excited to start SM 2013 new season.
Others names are the veteran TM SBD Unionbike Racing Giovanni Bussei, Honda TDS Natran Uros who had not a good 2012 season so he is very motivated to do better like two years ago, the Bulgarian TDS Honda Angel Karanyotov the younger rider in S1 class, Maier Hannes who ran some races last year and the Swedish Karloss Henrik onboard his Yamaha.
After the great 2012 season TM SHR Peter Vorlicek who won 2012 FIM Europe Title in ES2 class and represented Czech Republic in FIM Supermoto of Nation passed in S1 class, he was the big surprise with a second place in the podium last week-end in SM International Series so he will have to prove already this week-end if is able to fighting for the top position.
Another Czech rider will be TM Hardbike Racing Tomas Travincek who was present at 2012 FIM Supermoto of Nations classified with a good third place.
Others new riders of this 2013 Supermoto Season will be Suzuki BRT Andrea Occhini who is now ready to test his setting and speed with his new Team and the France YAMAHA Team Blot Stephane Blot and HONDA Luc1 Sylvain Bidart.
KTM MTR Devon Vermeulen who finished second last season had a great off season in his country training Motocross with his MX friend Jeffry Herlings in the tracks of Valkenswaard and Lommel because in Holland it is difficult to train for Supermoto.
The Dutch arrives at this first round very motivated and he will do his best to start with Red Plate in his hands after winning Young Trophy last year.
TM SHR Sami Salstola after a third place in the 2012 Supermoto European Championship and a second place in Young Trophy can fight against Vermeulen for the first place on the podium.
HONDA Freccia Team Diego Monticelli had a very consistent season last year and finished fourth, last week-end in Viterbo for the first race of Supermoto International Series he had a good result and finished second on the podium so he might be one of the rider who will finish in the ES2 podium this week-end.
YAMAHA Extream Team Edgardo Borella, sixth in 2012 ES2 standings is another Italian who will be encouraged by the support he will receive on home soil and will do his best.
TM SHR Malachy Mitchell-Thomas closed the top ten position last season due to too much crashes, he is well motivated to improve his position, this is the second year for the English rider in ES2 class and he did his best this winter with a lot of Motocross in his country and Supermoto test in Latina.
